A New Chapter for Grenada's Agricultural Future
Today, we celebrate a new chapter for Grenada’s Agricultural Future, as yesterday the keys the state-of-the-art Tissue Culture Laboratory, donated as by the People’s Republic of China, as part of the 8th Technical Cooperation on Agriculture.
A significant step for us at the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, Forestry, Marine Resources and Cooperatives, aimed at transforming the sector, with the application of tissue culture or micro propagation. The laboratory is located on the Mirabeau Plant Propagation Station, in St. Andrew, the largest Government Propagation station and aims to produce disease free planting material by applying the tissue culture technology in a sustainable and efficient approach.
As we undertake research and development of crops such as Irish potato, sweet potato and others, this undertaking is poised to increase production, enhance sustainability, and drive innovation in crop improvement.
