September 4, 2019 – Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Right Honorable Keith Mitchell has underscored the importance of Grenada’s National Sustainable Development Plan.

The draft plan is currently the focus of a second round of consultations to ensure that the general public has the opportunity to contribute to the development planning process.

Addressing local and regional delegates attending the Project Cycle Management, organised by the Caribbean Development Bank, Dr. Mitchell said long-term planning is critical.

The Prime Minister said, “Resilience and sustainability have become key watchwords of Government,” adding that, “This National Sustainable Development Plan is borne out of the understanding that any country should know what its long-term development plans are, regardless of what Government is in office.

The plan will guide Grenada’s development agenda for the next fifteen years, 2020 to 2035.”
With the draft National Sustainable Development Plan pending completion by year-end, Dr. Mitchell noted that the staging of the Project Cycle Management Conference is quite timely.

He said, “As we pay greater attention to long-term development, you would appreciate the added significance of project cycle management in achieving the desired implementation and delivery results.

That’s why this session is so important, because there is a fundamental problem facing us in terms of the rate of delivery and implementation.”

Grenada’s National Sustainable Development Plan addresses social, economic, environmental and governance issues.

The plan envisions Grenada as a resilient, prosperous nation, with a conscious and caring citizenry, promoting human dignity, and realizing its full potential through sustainable economic and social progress for all.

The current round of consultations will conclude in October, with a final draft of the plan expected by November 2019
