July 30, 2019 – Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, has added his
voice to the number of persons paying tribute to the late Dr. Winston Thomas who passed
away on Saturday.

At the start of Tuesday’s Post Cabinet Press Briefing the Prime Minister recognised Dr. Thomas for his two decades of service to the public health care system in Grenada.

He said, “Dr. Thomas has given selfless service in the healing and health of so many of our citizens throughout Grenada.

Many of our health professionals, particularly doctors, after receiving their education, establish their own private practice, which is their right. Dr. Thomas is one of the unique ones who gave his entire service to public health care for all the citizens of this country.”

Dr. Mitchell described Dr. Thomas as an example worthy of emulation.

He said, “It is well known that he had strong political views which were not always consistent with mine but one thing you can say about him, he never allowed his politics to interfere with his profession.

That is a message, in fact, a legacy that he would have left with all of us.

You can have your political views and you can have your differences, but it should not affect your service to people; that is the number one priority.”

At the time of his passing, Dr. Thomas was attached to the Accident and Emergency Department of the General Hospital.
