November 26, 2018 – Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell has welcomed the decision by the public sector trade unions to return to the negotiating table.
Following a meeting today with union representatives, Acting Labour Minister, Honourable Anthony Boatswain announced that the parties agreed to resume pension talks.

Dr. Mitchell welcomed the outcome of today’s meeting saying, “Government has long stated its willingness to continue negotiations on pension reform.

We have consistently encouraged the unions to return to the bargaining table for it is only through continuous engagement that we can resolve the current dispute.”

The impasse between Government and public sector trade unions and staff associations is based on the unions’ demand for a 25% advanced payment of pension which the Government maintains is not affordable or sustainable.

Prime Minister Mitchell will address the nation on the current industrial climate in the country, tonight at 8:00 p.m.
