Dr. Mitchell hands over CARICOM chair to Haiti

ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA, FEB. 26, 2018, GIS: Prime Minister Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell has left the country to attend the Twenty-Ninth Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM being held from 26-27 February, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

The Grenadian leader will hand over the Chairmanship of CARICOM to Haiti at the Opening Ceremony in the Haitian capital this morning. 

Dr. Mitchell is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Honourable Elvin Nimrod, Senator Peter David and CARICOM Ambassador, Dr. Patrick Antoine. 

Dr.  Mitchell and his delegation left Grenada early Monday and he's set to return late Monday evening, while the Deputy Prime Minister heads the delegation through Tuesday's session.   

The Minister of Communications and Works, Honourable Gregory Bowen will act as Prime Minister until Dr. Mitchell returns.
