Bret Center Directly south of Grenada

NADMA, St. George’s, Grenada – Monday, June 19, 2017: The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) continues to monitor the weather with the technical assistance of the Meteorological Office at the Maurice Bishop International Airport.

At 11:00 PM AST, the center of Tropical Storm Bret was located near latitude 10.0North, longitude 61.3 West or about 150 MI...235 KM South OF GRENADA.

Bret is moving toward the west-northwest near 23 mph (37 km/h) and is expected to slow down over the next 48 hours. On the forecast track, tropical storm Bret is expected to continue a path away from Grenada overnight and move near or along the northeast coast of Venezuela on Tuesday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 mb. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 12 to 24 hours. 

A weakening trend is forecast to begin on Wednesday and Bret is expected to become a tropical depression by that time, by then it would have already passed the state of Grenada.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km)from the center.

Please note that Grenada is still under Tropical Storm Warning and a Marine Advisory is still in effect.

The National Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) remains activated.
