New Bridge eases stress for Laborie Residents

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, Thursday, December 7, 2017 –GIS: Residents of the Laborie village of Petersfield are praising the Keith Mitchell Government for erecting a bridge over a ravine, facilitating easier access through the community.

The new bridge is being seen as an early Christmas gift to the residents who have been placing temporary boards on the banks of the ravine in order to cross over.

“So many of our people pass here over the years, our children, most of our children from Laborie and the surrounding areas going to and from school passed here and had some very trying experiences, the fact now that we have what I may call a state of the art bridge that to me is more than commendable,” declared community member pastor Stevenson Worme.

“I want to stand here and really congratulate and applaud the efforts primarily of the Minister and of course the initiative of Delma and Bertrand and others who at least show to him the importance of having a formal bridge here”.

The overall project was done in two phases at a cost of over $75,000.00.

Phase one involved the construction of a box culvert while phase two featured a retaining wall, curve concrete pavement and a walk-way.
