Prime Minister Attends Funeral of Late Ambassador in New York

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, 22nd September, 2016 –GIS:   Prime Minister Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell leaves Grenada later today for New York, where he will be attending the funeral service of the late Sir Dr. Lamuel Stanislaus.

Sir Stanislaus, Grenada’s former Ambassador to the United Nations passed away in New York last Sunday, September 18, at the age of 95.

A dentist by profession, Dr. Stanislaus became a diplomat after his retirement and served Grenada at the United Nations for many years under different governments, including previous Keith Mitchell-led administrations.

He was a close friend of the Grenadian leader.

The Prime Minister and other officials will be on hand to pay their last respects.

In the absence of Dr. Keith Mitchell, Honourable Gregory Bowen will be the Acting Prime Minister.

The funeral of the late ambassador will be held at the St. Francis of Assisi Church, located at 319 Maple Street, (entrance on Nostrand Avenue), in Brooklyn, on Saturday, September 24th.

The viewing is from 10:30 to 11:30, followed immediately by the funeral mass.

His burial will be at the Canarsie Cemetery located at 1370 Remsen Avenue, Brooklyn, New York.
