ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, May 10, 2016 – GIS: Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, has conveyed his deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Willan Dewsbury, MBE.

The former MP for St. Mark, (1995-1998), and former Minister of Culture, passed away on Saturday, May 7th, at age 93.

Mr. Dewsbury was a longstanding stalwart of the New National Party, and a close friend and advisor of Prime Minister Mitchell.

"Dewsbury's service to the people of St. Mark, and Grenada, as a whole, especially in the area of culture, will go down in the annals of our history.

He has made a tremendous contribution to our cultural landscape; most notably in the promotion of steel band music. For all who knew and loved Dewsbury, we will miss his straight-forward, but lighthearted, fun-loving and generous spirit and his abiding commitment to the development of our culture.

On behalf of the Government and People of Grenada, we celebrate brother Dewsbury's life, even while we mourn his passing.

His family can take comfort in the fact that he has lived a full life and he has made an indelible mark on Grenada's cultural heritage.

Brother Dewsbury, may your soul rest in perfect peace."
