ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, MARCH 18TH, 2016 - GIS:  - On Sunday, March 20, 2016, Grenada will observe World Oral Health Day, and as anticipated individuals are expected to reexamine their personal oral health responsibility as suggested by this year’s theme; “It All Starts Here… Healthy Mouth. Healthy Body.”

World Oral Health Day (WOHD) is observed internationally every year on 20 March. It is a day to celebrate the benefits of a healthy mouth and to promote worldwide awareness of the issues around oral health and the importance of oral hygiene.

It is a day for people to have fun – a day full of activities that make us laugh, sing and smile!

This year the aim of the observance is to get everyone to recognize the impact their oral health has on their overall physical health and wellbeing.

Over the years, the Ministry of Health undertook alongside its regular dental care services, several school-based oral health initiatives which resulted in improved oral hygiene among our populations, but children in particular.

The program includes the education, fluoride application, filling, tooth-brushing and distribution of tooth brushes and toothpaste.

The Ministry believes that it is necessary to inspire change, in the perception of dental health and encourages individuals to have regular dental checks and more importantly, for parents to recognized the benefits of dental health and to instill good oral health habits in their children.  This fosters healthy mouth and healthy bodies.

The Ministry of Health wishes all Grenadians a happy “Oral Health Day -2016”
