ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA January 27, 2016-GIS: The government and people of Grenada are one step closer to the construction of a new, state-of-the art parliament building, with work expected to begin in one month.

In Tuesday’s post cabinet briefing, Government Senator, Brenda Hood disclosed that Quinn Company Limited, a Grenadian design and construction services firm, was awarded the contract to carry out the construction of the 22.8 million dollar project building.

The contract was recently signed by Ms. Patricia Clarke, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Managing Director of Quinn Company, Mr. Mike Quinn.

Senator Hood says construction, which is expected to begin within the next 30 days, should take approximately 18 months to be completed.

“Again it’s more jobs because this is a major project so you will find many persons who are interested in working and are available and have the skills, should be employed by the contractors”, senator Hood explained.

The signing comes approximately two weeks after a six-man delegation from the UAE paid a brief visit to the proposed site in Mt. Wheldale. Both the UAE and Mexico are contributing US$ 5 million dollars each to the project.
