ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA January 27, 2016-GIS: A number of employment opportunities will come on stream in the next few weeks as government has given the green light for contract work to begin on several projects around the island.

On the list of projects are works on the Holy Cross RC School in St. Andrew, the St. Theresa’s RC Pre-Primary School in St. David, the expansion and upgrade of the day care center in Gouyave, St. John, as well as repairs on the Hubble and Lance bridges, also in St. John.

Facilitating Tuesday’s Post Cabinet Briefing, Sen. Brenda Hood said government, through the Ministry of Works, is working closely with the contractors to ensure that persons in the respective communities obtain employment.

“Whenever jobs are being done, they should engage the people in the community so that persons in the communities can get employment if they are qualified and if they are interested,” Senator Hood said.

Senator Hood says government is aware of the employment situation in the country and will continue to make efforts to make provide Grenadians with jobs.

“This government is very conscious of the fact that employment of our people are critical and this is why whenever we have the opportunity to create employment opportunities, this is what we do,” senator Hood added.
