ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, February 23, 2016 –GIS: The Ministry of Health held a policy meeting on Tuesday to determine whether there is need for further action, following reports of a chicken pox outbreak at the St. George’s Anglican Junior School.

The school is closed for the week to monitor and treat affected students following reports of seventeen confirmed cases.

Education Minister Hon. Anthony Boatswain says as a precautionary measure, all siblings of affected students must also remain at home.

Chicken pox is a mild and common childhood illness that most children catch.

It causes a rash of red, itchy spots that turn into fluid-filled blisters.

Sen. Simon Stiell, Minister of State responsible for Human Resource Development, says all is being done to protect the students.
