Venezuelan President to visit Grenada

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, October 16, 2015 –GIS: The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro is due to pay an official visit to Grenada on Saturday, October 17.

President Maduro is scheduled to arrive around mid-afternoon, following a visit to St. Lucia.

He will be given a red carpet welcome that includes a guard of honour, as he is met at the Maurice Bishop International Airport by Government officials, inclusive of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Clarice Modeste Curwin.

During his short stint in Grenada, the Venezuelan leader will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Dr. the Rt. Hon Keith Mitchell.

President Maduro is travelling with a delegation which includes his Health Minister Mr. Henry Ventura, his Finance Minister Mr. Rodolfo Marco Torres and his Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Delcy Eloína Rodriguez Gomez.

President Maduro’s visit climaxes with an official ceremony at the Petro Caribe Plant at Queen’s Park, from approximately 4.00 o' clock on Saturday afternoon, an event which will be carried live on national television.

Prime Minister Mitchell and President Maduro will deliver speeches at the ceremony, followed by the Foreign Ministers of both countries signing the Miracle Eye agreement.

There will also be a symbolic handing over of gas cylinders to the Ministry of Education for several schools in the country.
