Beausejour, Carriacou, October 13, 2015 – Students at one of the island’s primary schools can now eat their lunch in a comfortable enclosed environment.

This as the Grenada Electricity Services Ltd (GRENLEC) provided funds for the upgrading of the lunch area for students at the Hillsborough Government School in Carriacou.

Principal Barbara Charles said the blocking up of the area will now ease the discomfort faced by her cooking staff and students; as during the rainy season they had to worry about wet floors and benches.

Charles noted that students will now be able to eat their meals without having to cover to prevent from dust.

She expressed her sincerest appreciation to GRENLEC since the school which was refurbished over ten (10) years ago had an open space as its lunch area.

Chairman of GRENLEC’s Back to School Programme Floyd Best said his organization is pleased to have assisted in the upgrade since they recognize education as key in the nation’s development.

Representing the Division of Education at a ribbon cutting ceremony held at the school was Guidance and Counseling Officer Rhonda McLawrance who said that the Ministry of Education is always happy when corporate citizens’ partner with them to bring about positive development in the education sector.

GRENLEC’s Branch Manager Wallace Collins was also in attendance, he played a pivotal role in ensuring the school benefited from such a programme.
The Bhola RC School in Grenada also benefited from GRENLEC’s Back to School Programme.
