ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, NOVEMBER 5, 2015, GOVERNMENT INFORMATION SERVICE (GIS): The Ministry of Health regrets to inform residents of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, that due to logistical challenges regarding transportation of the medical staff, of the Miracle Eye program, the first round of screening carded for the sister-isles will be rescheduled.

A team of over thirty medical and support staff from Grenada and Venezuela were expected to make the Carriacou journey on Saturday to carryout preliminary screening and testing as part of the first round of services.

However an official close to the program explained that because of the current ferry scheduling and the unavailability of flights to the sister isle, the team will not have sufficient time to undertake the necessary screening and testing necessary.

He said the team was concerned that not many people will receive the service and that in and of itself will ultimately affect the goals of the program.

"So as a result, after consulting with our Venezuelan counterparts, a decision was taken that we should reschedule the Carriacou leg/visit to the second round which is set for the third week of November and instead of one day we will do two days in Carriacou", the official explained.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Health reassures the residents of the sister isles that it will deliver on its promise to conduct ophthalmology services on the island as part of the program.

The MOH also apologizes for any inconveniences the rescheduling may cause.
