Health Minister Nickolas Steele and CMO George Mitchell attend World Health Assembly in Geneva Switzerland

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, MAY 17, 2015 – GIS: Grenada’s Health Minister – Hon. Nickolas Steele and Chief Medical Officer - Dr. George Mitchell are currently attending the Sixty-eighth session of the World Health Assembly (WHA) which began in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday, 18 May, 2015.

The two senior health officials left the island on the weekend for the meeting which brings together health officials from all World Health Organization (WHO) Member States, to discuss important health related matters and review and set the new agenda.

The Health Assembly is the supreme decision-making body of (WHO).

Its main functions are to determine the policies of the Organization, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget.
The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland- (WHO’s) Headquarters.

This year’s Sixty-eighth session (WHA) climaxes on May 26.
