ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, July 29, 2015 - GIS:   The Government of Grenada, through the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and National Security, regrets to advise that  this morning, at approximately 1.00 a.m. a Grenadian registered Schooner on route to Trinidad and Tobago, encountered difficulties, when another Grenadian Vessel the Ocean Princess, attempted to render assistance.

During the course of providing assistance, both schooners were involved in a serious accident in the territorial waters of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Government of Grenada wishes to assure that Grenada’s Consular and Trade Office in Trinidad and Tobago is working very closely with the Trinidadian Authorities to ensure an appropriate investigation is being conducted, and that continued assistance is provided to all passengers and crew members.

At this time, the reports are that one person on board the Mary G, unfortunately lost his life in the accident, while at least one other sustained serious injuries, and successfully underwent emergency surgery in Trinidad.
