ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, July 27, 2015 - GIS: Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, congratulates the Trinidad Red Steel on the victory in the 2015 Hero Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 Cricket Tournament.

Red Steel, skippered by Dwayne Bravo, achieved its first tournament win, completing a successful season with a final victory over Barbados Tridents at the Queen’s Park Oval on Sunday.

According to the Prime Minister, the Red Steels’ 20-run victory is “testament to the success of team work and determination.”

The Prime Minister, whose passion for cricket has led to him being appointed by his colleague Heads of Government of CARICOM as the Chair of the Cricket Governance Committee, says that “the success of the CPL and the showcase of the talent of the cricketers in the region is a reason to hope that the West Indies can have a much better-performing team in the foreseeable future.”

The month-long CPL tournament, ran under licence from the West Indies Cricket Board, saw many exciting matches, which Prime Minister Mitchell believes were excellent for the promotion of sports tourism in the Caribbean.
