The Market Access and Rural Enterprise Development Programme (MAREP) conducted its First Official Launch and Motivational Symposium for its Vocational Skills Training Program on Wednesday January 28, 2015 at the Grenada National Stadium.

The symposium brought together over two hundred (200) selected young persons from twenty (20) rural communities to its cycle of Vocational and Skills Training (VST) and Certification programme. The selected applicants will receive scholarships to several training agencies through the National Training Agency (NTA) in Grenada and Carriacou.

This symposium serves as an avenue through which MAREP can disseminate information to the candidates and introduce the facilitators. In addition, support was provided through eight (8) motivational sessions to encourage candidates to become committed to the training, and successfully complete with Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQs) certifications.

The candidates will pursue trainings in areas such as: General Office Administration, Cosmetology, Data Operation, General Construction, Early Childhood Development, General Agriculture and Garment Production/ Fashion Design. The duration of the courses will range from 6 to 12 months.

Moreover, the symposium recognised several specialists and government officials who made remarks, namely the Prime Minister, Dr. the Right

Honourable Keith Mitchell and representatives of the Ministry of Youth and the Grenada National Training Agency with feature address by Pastor Stanford Simon.

MAREP is therefore proud to have launched its official Vocational and Skills Training, as part of the programme’s commitment to ensure that life skills, personal development as well as, vocational and skills is implemented for rural young men and women in MAREP’s targeted communities.
