ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, April 23, 2015 – GIS:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to reaffirm that the Government of Grenada remains committed to strengthening its partnership with Grenadians in the Diaspora. Grenadian citizens and the network community organizations throughout the world continue to make substantive contributions to Grenada’s socio-economic development in all areas of life, and for this the Government is highly appreciative.

It is, therefore, necessary to have adequate representation (as far as possible) to facilitate Government’s obligations to its citizens and other partners, as we seek to realize the shared goal of prosperity for Grenadians at home and abroad in service to our (beloved) project Grenada.

The impending opening of the Consulate General in Miami on April 30th 2015, is, therefore, welcomed as an important step in broadening that outreach.

It is envisioned that the Consulate General will not only provide consular services to Grenadians but also promote Grenada’s socio-economic development through the promotion of foreign direct investment.

The Ministry wishes to underscore that the Diaspora community in the New York Metropolitan area remains an integral pillar of our Diaspora community in the United States and ensuring a close working partnership with our community remains an absolute priority.

Indeed, the appointment of Mr. Derrick James as Ambassador for Diaspora and Humanitarian Affairs accredited to the United Nations is a testimony to the Government’s commitment to ensuring the facilitation of a dynamic and responsive community engagement between our citizenry and government.

The Embassy of Grenada in Washington, DC, continues to service the entire United States, including New York with regards to comprehensive consular services.

The Ministry wishes to further inform that the Government of Grenada is currently reviewing modalities of strengthening its representation in New York with a view to facilitating consular representation and continuing to work hand in hand for the benefit of the people of Grenada at home and abroad.
