Prime Minister Mitchell Travels on State Business

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, APRIL 8, 2015 – GIS: _ ​P​rime Minister Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell left Grenada on Tuesday night for a series of engagements abroad.

On Wednesday, April 8, Dr. Mitchell was due to meet with colleague CARICOM Heads in Jamaica as a body, before their Summit with United States President, Barack Obama, on Thursday.

The presentations at that meeting will focus on competitiveness, and will see Prime Minister Mitchell making interventions on Energy and Information Communication Technologies, as per his Leading responsibility within CARICOM.

The Heads will then travel to Panama City on Thursday evening where they will participate in the Summit of the Americas. At that Summit, Dr. Mitchell will be joined by Honourable Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On Sunday, the Prime Minister will travel to Washington DC, where he and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance will participate in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Spring meetings.

Meanwhile, the Honourable Elvin Nimrod will act as Prime Minister until Dr. Mitchell returns to Grenada on April 17th. The Honourable Oliver Joseph is the acting Minister of Finance.
