Beausejour, Carriacou, October 31, 2014- The reading ability of primary school students in Carriacou & Petite Martinique will be showcased on Tuesday, November 4th, 2014.

They will be participating in the 4th annual Michelle Coy Reading Competition which is being held in honour of the late Literacy Officer for Carriacou & Petite Martinique Michelle Coy.

The competition was started in November 2011 and sponsored by the Brooklyn based organization; Mt. Pleasant & Grand Bay USA.

The organization which is primarily made up of persons originally from the twin village and their descendants believes that reading is fundamental for children’s success and the development of the country.

It is their hope that the competition will motivate young people on the island to become better readers.

The competition will be held at the Hillsborough Government School commencing from 9:30 a.m., members of the public are encouraged to come out and support the students.

Kady Mills of the Hillsborough Government School was last year’s winner.
