ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, FRIDAY, 31 OCTOBER, 2014 - (GIS):_ One of Grenada's top Union Presidents has come to the defence of the Ministry of Health saying it has been rather proactive in addressing the issue of Ebola.

Adrian Francis of the powerful Public Workers Union (PWU), on Friday afternoon commended the Ministry of Health for taking the lead, in educating the public about Ebola.

"Madam Minister, I really want to commend you and your staff for the very good work that all of you have been doing.

The Ministry of Health has been very proactive in educating the public and I think it is fair to say that the Ministry is doing a good job".

Francis said the Ministry's team which includes Dr. George Mitchell (CMO), Dr. Francis Martin, Supt. Jesmond Prince and others has been at the forefront leading the education process.

His comments came just one day after another union official had expressed concerns about what he described as the Ministry's slow response.

On Friday afternoon Health Minister Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen and a team from her Ministry and the St. George's University (SGU) met with some local trade union leaders at the Technical and Allied Workers Union (TAWU) head office.
The session is a forerunner to the bigger meeting with local Trade Unions early next month.
