ST. ANDREW, GRENADA, 12 November, 2014: Minister of Sports, Hon. Emmalin Pierre, met on Tuesday with members of the Grenada Netball Association (GNA) to discuss the many challenges face by the association and a possible way forward for the development of the game in Grenada.

The Minister expressed concern about the public perception of the association and the range of unresolved issues that prevent the development of the sport on the island.

Minister Pierre urged the Grenada Netball Association to work towards addressing these issues for the sake of the game in Grenada.

She cited that it was important for egos to be put aside in order that outstanding issues can be resolved, public perception improved, and the game developed.

Towards this end, the Minister Pierre pledged to convene a national netball retreat, engaging all stakeholders and interested persons, to meet and discuss the real issues affecting the sport and to chart the way forward.

Minister Pierre indicated her intention to engage a professional who will review the operations of the organization, especially the challenges, and wishes for all interested parties to participate in the interest of the game.

The Ministry of Sports will soon announce a date for this activity and will extend a public invitation for all concerned to participate.
