Governor General La Grenade to receive UWI Honorary Doctorate

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, May 28, 2014 – GIS: Grenada's Governor General, Dame Cecile La Grenade, has been conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) by the University of the West Indies.

The Governor General is one of several eminent Caribbean citizens to receive this prestigious award at ceremonies throughout the University of the West Indies campuses later this year. Dame La Grenade will receive her degree at the Cave Hill campus graduation ceremony in October this year.

A Joint Committee of Council and Senate recommended the Honorary Graduands for the degrees to the Council of UWI earlier this year.

Dame Cecile La Grenade, who was appointed Governor General of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique in May 2013, holds a PhD in Food Science.

The Government and People of Grenada wish to therefore extend hearty congratulations to our Head of State on this remarkable achievement.
