Minister Otway-Noel visits the UK to spread the Pure Grenada message

ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, May 24, 2014 – GIS: Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Alexandra Otway-Noel, was in London last week holding discussions with airlines and investors to support the efforts of the Grenada at Chelsea team in the RHS Chelsea Flower Show; and to be a guest at the WINDREF Fundraising Dinner.

The Minister celebrated the Silver-Gilt medal with the Grenada at Chelsea team and designer Suzanne Gaywood MBE.

Over the past 17 years the Grenada exhibit has successively been awarded Silver (in 1998), Silver-Gilt (in 1999 & 2000) and then Gold (in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005), Silver-Gilt in 2006, Gold in 2007, Silver-Gilt in 2008, Gold in (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012), and Silver-Gilt in 2014.

Meetings held by the Minister with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays were very productive and the Minister expressed her thanks on behalf of the country for both airlines' on-going support. One of the highlights of the week was the hosting of a media event for twenty journalists at the RHS Chelsea Show ground.

Media attending included The Sunday Times, Sunday Mirror, Mail on Sunday, Food & Travel, The Arbuturian, Waitrose Kitchen and ITV This Morning.

The Minister posed with Suzanna Gaywood and representatives from partner sponsors: Mount Hartman Bay Estate, Spice Island Beach Resort, True Blue Bay, Sandals LaSource Grenada and Mount Cinnamon Resort.

A variety of investment meetings also took place to strengthen the island's tourism infrastructure in the coming years.
