Hundreds Attend Health Fairs

ST.GEORGE'S, GRENADA, Friday, March 14, 2014 - GIS:
More than three hundred persons benefited from the Health Fairs that were facilitated by the Ministry of Heath, South St. George Welfare Association and Barry University of Florida.

Services such as Cholesterol test, Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar Checks, HIV/AIDS check and counselling were done.
Vision and Breast Examination as well as Pap Smear checks were also available to persons.

About one Hundred and Fifty persons turned out for the first Health Fair on the 1st of March at the Rose Hill Community Center, St.Patrick
Minister Clarice Modeste Curwen and MP Clifton Paul both attended and assisted in the event.
Health education was the main focus of a house to house visit in the area of Coast Guard St. Marks by persons from the Barry University of Florida on Friday 7th of March.

The following day, more than 225 persons attended the final Health Fair at the Union Medical Center.
Nurses and doctors from the Barry University of Florida, St. George’s University and Union/Sauteurs/Victoria Medical Station conducted the Health Fair.

Dr. Clarice Modeste Curwen, Minister of Health & Social Security and Constituency Representative of St. Mark’s perform duties in her capacity as a qualified medical practitioner to many of the persons who attended.

One villager commented that she thinks it is a good initiative that the Minister of Health has taken to have the health fair, and she hopes that events like these can continue within the community.
