ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, Friday, March 14, 2014 - GIS:
An island wide motorcade takes place in Grenada on Saturday to raise funds to assist victims of last weekend’s fire in Gouyave.

The motorcade has been organised by local radio station, WEE FM, which once broadcast from headquarters in the St.John’s capital.

It rolls off from 9 am Saturday from the Port Highway in Tanteen St. George’s moving up the western side of the country and returning to St.George’s via the St.David’s route.

Prime Minister Dr.Keith Mitchell who was out of state when the fire occurred paid a visit to the victims late Thursday.

Government responded quickly with a delegation comprising four ministers arriving in Gouyave within hours of the fire last week.

State agencies have been coordinating relief assistance for the victims and Government has promised to provide housing.

About 17 persons were affected when the five houses were destroyed by fire.

MP for St. John’s Hon. Alvin Dabreo is encouraging persons to come out and support this venture organized by the wee FM staff.
