US$62,865.30 paid to PAHO for outstanding supplies of Vaccines

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, TUESDAY, MARCH 11, 2014 –More vaccines are expected to arrive in the country as Ministry of Health - Government of Grenada, continues to honor its financial obligations to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

A report from the Ministry of Finance indicates that the sum of US$62,865.30 was paid to PAHO for outstanding supplies of vaccines.

Health officials say the availability of vaccines is critical to the prevention of diseases outbreak in the Country, and that the payment demonstrates the Government's commitment to putting the health of the nation first.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Health is preparing to observe Vaccination Week of the Americas from April 27th to May 3rd, 2014.
This year’s focus will be on educating the public on the importance of being vaccinated.
