ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, Tuesday, March 11, 2014 - GIS:
Tourism Minister Alexandra Otway Noel says arrivals are up from some of Grenada’s major source markets.

The Tourism Minister made the announcement during Tuesday’s post cabinet news briefing at the Ministry of Works Conference room.

“The numbers are up. Arrivals from the US and Canada and the UK are all up and we are very excited about that,” an elated Tourism Minister told journalists.

“In fact I just came off an aircraft the other day coming back from Europe and more than two thirds of the people got off in Grenada, so we have been working hard and people out there seems to be listening that Grenada is absolutely gorgeous and it’s a wonderful place to come to”.

Preliminary data shows that tourist arrivals to Grenada increased in 2012-2013.

There was a 14.8% increase in visitor arrivals from the US market, 20.99% increase from the Canadian market and a 3.22% increase from the Caribbean market.

Those arrivals do not include students or returning nationals.
