ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, March 11, 2014 – GIS:
Senator the Hon. Brenda Hood, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture, leads the 2014 delegation to attend Cruise Shipping Miami (CSM) 2014 - the western hemisphere's largest cruise conference and trade show.

CSM is the cruise industry's premier global event and celebrates its 30th anniversary this year during the period - March 10th to 13th, 2014.

CSM is referred to as the epicenter of the cruise industry that brings together every face of the business, including cruise lines, suppliers, travel agents and partners. It is the only global B2B event guaranteed to offer the most valuable and effective face to face experience.

Grenada's representation also includes the CEO of the newly formed Grenada Tourism Authority, Mr. Rudy Grant, together with Manager of Nautical Development, Mrs. Nikoyan Roberts. Another leading public sector organization - the Grenada Ports Authority, is represented by Mr. Ambrose Phillip - General Manager and Deputy General Manager, Mr. Ian Evans.

Representatives of local tour and private sector investment companies will also attend this important cruise shipping Conference and Trade Show to examine improvements to Grenada's way of doing business, and to support the implementation of a few new cruise investment opportunities for the country.

The cruise industry is one of the fastest growing travel sectors in the world, with nearly 19 million passengers cruising in 2012. As of 2013, the Caribbean still has the largest capacity share with 37.3% of the ships being deployed, followed by the Mediterranean (19.9%), and then Europe (9.8%).

While at this Conference Senator Hood will meet with executives of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) and various member cruise lines, including Carnival Cruise Lines who returns to the destination after a 15 year hiatus with one call in November.
