The President of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) Mrs. Shida Bolai today announced that the Board of Directors at its June 2014 meeting unanimously approved the membership of the Government Information Service of Grenada (GIS Grenada).

The GIS Grenada is the state-run entity responsible for coverage, gathering and dissemination of public interest content to Grenadians.

It applied for Associate membership of the regional broadcast grouping even as the CBU prepares for the 45th renewal of its Annual General Assembly, scheduled to take place in Paramaribo, Suriname from August 18 to 21.

At that meeting, which will address critical issues such as digital transition, rights in sports programming and opportunities for broadcasters in the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, GIS Grenada will be welcomed into the fraternity as the newest member of the Union.

CBU President Bolai said she looked forward to the contribution from the new member and noted that Grenada will be the host of the Annual General Assembly in 2015.
