ST GEORGE'S, GRENADA, JUNE 20, 2014 (GIS): Minister for Communication and Works, Hon. Gregory Bowen and Members of Parliament for St. Andrews met with vendors of the Grenville Market on Wednesday to discuss operations at the facility when it is opened.

The Minister said government received the keys for the Market and Bus Terminus just weeks ago.

He said before they signed for the handover a number of repair works had to be done which brought on further delay in opening the facilities.

An advisory committee has since been put in place to look after the affairs of the Grenville market and other markets in Grenada.

However, he says at the Grenville Market, a golden opportunity exists to put things in place such as the fee structure, contract for vendors and maintenance of the facilities.

“What we put in place here we may not be able to do in St. Marks because they do not have the facility that you are blessed here with”, he said to the vendors.

The Minister with responsibility for Markets said the task ahead now is dealing with the numerous amounts of applications that are before them for the limited amount of stalls available.

“There are lots of things that you will see in place based on the agreement with the bank that were not there before” the Minister said.

“At the end of the day we want good marks so that we can go to the bank again and say fund another project,” he explained.
