Harvey Vale Government School student performs well in CPEA

Beausejour, Carriacou, June 11, 2014- Harvey Vale Government School is celebrating following the results of the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment Examinations (CPEA).

Of the 87 students from Carriacou and Petite Martinique who sat the exams, one of their students placed in the top 50.

11 year old Teja Patrice was 44th in the state making her the top performer for Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Patrice who will be attending Hillsborough Secondary School when the new school year begins in September is aspiring to become a lawyer. She attributes her performance to the great support she received from her family circle and teachers.

Kerwin Noel, who taught Patrice in Grade 6, is elated that once again one of his students has performed exceptionally well. He noted that she is a well rounded student who participated in most activities at school ranging from debates, reading competitions to queen shows.

The south side school achieved an 80% pass rate with 17 of the 19 students who sat the exams passing.
Among the group of successful students from Carriacou and Petite Martinique, 38 are going to Bishop’s College and 39 will pursue studies at Hillsborough Secondary School.

The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, led by Minister Elvin Nimrod, congratulates all the islands’ students, urging them to view their CPEA success and entrance to secondary school, as another stepping stone in their educational journey.
