Roundtable discussion on Sustainable Options for Conservation in Grenada

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, Thursday, July 03, 2014: Grenada will host the Third Symposium for Innovators in Coastal Tourism from July 9th – 11th, 2014 at the St. George’s University.  This event will include participants from across the Americas and will create a platform for cutting edge innovations in coastal and marine tourism.

 As part of the three-day event, The Nature Conservancy will host a Roundtable discussion on Sustainable Options for Conservation in Grenada on Wednesday July 9th, 2014, 8:30am – 2:00pm, at the Caribbean House, SGU.  This discussion will provide direct support to the implementation of the “Sustainable Financing and Management of Eastern Caribbean Marine Ecosystems Project” and intends to deliver the following outcomes:

 1.   Raise awareness among interested agencies and stakeholder groups of the purposes of the Grenada National Conservation Fund.

2.   Raise awareness of the options available for sustainable financing for conservation and environmental initiatives in Grenada.

 3.   Identify a course of action leading to the design and implementation of a sustainable revenue generation mechanism(s) in Grenada that will match the disbursements flowing from the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) to the Grenada National Conservation Fund.
