ST.GEORGE’S, GRENADA, Monday, January 20, 2014 – GIS: Fire appliances, including three Fire Trucks, were handed over to the Grenada Airports Authority on Friday 17th.

In accepting the equipment, on behalf of the Prime Minister, Senator Winston Garraway expressed his “pleasure at being able to see the fulfillment of a promise made to the nation at recent forums, in which the lack of adequate fire equipment was highlighted.”

The Senator thanked the Regional Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (RDVRP) for procuring the appliances, and thanked the World Bank for their funding.

The new equipment, according to the Senator, will go a long way in ensuring that our firemen and women can feel much safer in the execution of their duties.

Other speakers at the Handing Over ceremony were Minister of Civil Aviation, Tourism and Culture, Honourable Otway-Noel; Chairman of the Grenada Airports Authority, Mrs. Joan Gilbert; General Manager of Maurice Bishop International Airport, Mrs. Wendy Williams, and the Senior Country Officer for the OECS, Mr. Alessandro L’egrottoglie.
