ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, Friday, January 10, 2014 – GIS: Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Honourable Anthony Boatswain, extends best wishes to all for an exemplary school year and continued success in learning and skills development both within the classroom and beyond.

Minister Boatswain is determined to reform the Education Sector in 2014, to ensure that what the education system is producing is consistent with what the world of work demands.

“More emphasis will be placed on granting scholarships in the areas of Science and Technology, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), as well as in the areas of Research and Development,” Minister Boatswain said.

The Education Minister has highlighted these areas because studies have shown that the jobs created within the next decade will be skills-based and technology driven.

Other areas earmarked for immediate improvements are; the Ministry’s administrative system, which is in the process of computerizing its records; and the completion of the Education Management Information System (EMIS), that was introduced in 2013, which will improve efficiency within the departments.
