Beausejour, Carriacou, February 12, 2014-
Grades five (5) and six (6) teachers attached to the primary schools in Carriacou and Petite Martinique are gaining a better understanding of the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA).
The Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) replaced the Common Entrance Examinations in 2013.

A three member delegation from the Ministry of Education is facilitating the two day workshop. The facilitators are Mathematics Curriculum Development Officer Lyndon Richardson, Language Arts Curriculum Development Officer Sandra Thomas and Literacy Officer Denyse Brathwaite.

They noted that upon completion of the workshop teachers will be better able to use the Table of Specification for the planning of instruction and writing of tests and assessments as well as write genres for Grades 5 and 6.

Their visit to the island is twofold as the Ministry of Education in collaboration with McMillan Publishers is conducting a workshop with the primary schools on the use of the Language Tree Series for the teaching of Language Arts.

The two (2) secondary schools on the island Bishop’s College and Hillsborough Secondary are also benefiting from the visit, English A Teachers are being taught how to better utilize the English Matters Series.

Support for the workshop is being provided by the Division of Education here.
