ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, DECEMBER 14, 2014: Grenada is expected to be accepted as a full member of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the Americas (ALBA), at the XIII Summit of the Alliance, taking place on Sunday, December 14, in Havana, Cuba.

Prime Minister Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell is participating in the Summit, and will deliver Grenada's acceptance remarks.

He is accompanied by Minister of Trade, Economic Affairs, International Business, Planning and Cooperatives, Honourable Oliver Joseph, and Senator Peter David.

The ALBA, founded in 2004, is an initiative of late Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, and Former Cuban President, Fidel Castro. The movement's focus is the social, political and economic integration of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

With the incorporation of Grenada and St. Kitts into ALBA, Sunday's Summit will mark the completion of all independent states being full members of the Body.

Prime Minister Mitchell, on his arrival in Cuba on Saturday night for the Summit, expressed his commendation to the Founders of ALBA, and his pleasure at being once again in Cuba, in the name of regional integration.

The Prime Minister and his delegation return to Grenada on Monday, December 15th. In his absence, Honourable Gregory Bowen is the Acting Prime Minister.
