ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, April 28, 2014 – GIS:
Hon. Nickolas Steele, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Business, met with his Qatari counterpart, Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah, to discuss Grenada-Qatar Cooperation ahead of Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell’s official visit to the State of Qatar this year.

The two Foreign Ministers discussed several areas of cooperation including tourism and civil aviation, donor financing for infrastructural development projects; as well as a number of bilateral agreements to be signed when Prime Minister Mitchell makes his official visit.

This renewed engagement between the parties gives life to Grenada-Qatar bilateral cooperation, which had starkly declined during the tenure of the previous administration.

Minister Steele wrapped up his successful three-day visit to Qatar on April 27, and heads to Merida, Mexico to attend two summits: the Mexico-CARICOM Summit on April 29th and the Association of Caribbean States on April 30th.

Minister Steele was accompanied by Mr. Alva Browne, Foreign Service Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Business, responsible for the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
