The Customs and Excise Division is continuing with its efforts to improve its comprehensive Customer Service Programme developed in 2012. In this regard, a series of workshops are currently being conducted for all members of staff. This training began in March 2014 and will be completed on April 30, 2014.

The training is being conducted by the Division’s in-house facilitators spearheaded by the Deputy Comptroller of Customs with responsibility for Human Resource Management and covers the following areas:

  • Professionalism
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Team Work
  • Effective Communication
  • Motivation
  • Conflict Resolution

The Customs and Excise Division aims to be amodel Department in the Public Service offering professional services in accordance with international standards that guides Customs operations.

Despite not being in direct competition for customers as private sector organizations, the Customs Division recognises that its competitors are other islands especially in the tourism sector.

The Customs Division appreciates that Customer Service can play a key role in the improvement of its performance which in turn is vital for the economic and social development of our country.

The Division also believes that the delivery of high quality Customer Service is pivotal to the success of modern Customs Organizations, hence this initiative is viewed as highly important.

It is anticipated that at the end of the training sessions all members of staff will become more aware of the important role that excellent Customer Service plays in the Division’s success and therefore will provide excellent Customer Service at all times.
