Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Michael Denis Lett, has Passed away

ST. GEORGE, GRENADA, JANUARY 28, 2013_ Grenada and the entire agricultural sector Monday lost a true son in the death of Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Michael Denis Lett.

As Agriculture Minister Mr. Lett was passionate empowering farmers and encouraging more persons to become actively involved in the sector.

Permanent Secretary, Aaron Francois says Mr. Lett who died this morning after a period of illness had his heart in agriculture.

Mr. Francois says Mr. Lett has given a lot of personal support in advancing his career and has given him the opportunity to take initiative to go ahead with projects. 

According to the Permanent Secretary, up to the last Mr. Lett’s mind was on agriculture, saying to him, “François we have to continue, we have to continue to push it, we have to continue to bring assistance to farmers, we have to continue to build farmers livelihood.”

His heart was really with the sector, says Mr. François

Senior Fisheries Officer, Johnson St. Louis says Minister Lett was just as passionate about the fishing sub-sector as he was with Agriculture and Forestry.

He says the minister was also a boat owner and vendor who had a big heart for the fisher men, who attended lots of meetings to look at fisheries development and management.

Michael Denis Lett has been Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries from July 2008 until his death.
