Grenada to host regional Seminar on Diversion of Precursor Chemicals

St. George’s Grenada, Thursday January 24, 2013 – MOEPRU – Grenada will host the regional seminar on the diversion of precursor chemicals, during 28 January to 1 February 2013.

It will be conducted by the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD), and will be attended by law enforcement officers, and other officials involved in the control of precursor chemicals.

The seminar is part of a series of programs conducted by CICAD in the Americas, to develop the knowledge and skills of officers in preventing diversion of precursor chemicals which are used in the manufacturing industry, but can be diverted for the production of illicit drugs.

Issues to be discussed at the seminar include:
·Chemicals used in the production of illicit drugs.
·Field tests for cocaine.
·Smuggling and diversion of chemicals from illicit channels.
·Regulations for prevention of diversion of precursor chemicals.

The Seminar will be held at the Rex by Grenadian Hotel, Point Salines, St. George and will be preceded by a short opening ceremony scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m.
