ST. GEORGE, GRENADA, NOVEMBER 20, 2012 _ Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Tillman Thomas today accepted the keys for three vehicles from Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Grenada Wonkun Hwang.
The gift of two Kia Sportage SUVs and a Kia Optima car, were handed over today, during a short ceremony at the Ministerial Complex.
“I accept this gift on behalf of the Government and People of Grenada and assure you Ambassador that it will improve the services offered by the ministries to which they will be attached,” the Prime Minister told the Ambassador.
The Prime Minister pledged to work toward deepening the already good relations between South Korea and Grenada. He also welcomed an invitation from Ambassador Hwang for Grenada to take advantage of Korean expertise from which Grenada can benefit.
The Ambassador said his government is pleased that Grenada accepted the gift since it was an indication of confidence in Korean made products.
“It is my hope that Grenada will have the same confidence in the relations we share,” the Ambassador said.
The handing over ceremony was followed by a short meeting in which the Prime Minister and the Ambassador discussed various areas of cooperation.
Grenada and South Korea enjoyed “cordial and steady” diplomatic relations since establishing ties in 1974.
Over the years Grenada has benefited from grant aid in the form of computers, multi-media equipment and vehicles.
