ST. GEORGE, GRENADA, FRIDAY JUNE 17TH, 2010_ Three roads in the south of the island will be developed as a part of prospective projects being undertaken this year by the Ministry of Housing, Lands and Community Development.

One of the areas listed for development is Stones' Walkway in Grand Anse, where 100 feet of road and 87 feet of box drain, estimated at EC$45,428, will be constructed.

The stone-filled road has posed a number of difficulties for residents and visitors using it. One resident explained that while flooding is a major issue during the rainy season, emergency personnel are also challenged with accessibility.

She said, "When my mother got ill the ambulance had to stay on the main road and we had to lift her because she had cancer and was almost crippled."

Stones' Walkway residents, as a whole, have welcomed the Ministry's initiative.

Their views on the upgrading of the walkway are summed up by one who said: "I am very happy and glad that it's going to be done because with the stone it's really hard.

My husband can't walk; I have to hold him or someone has to help me get him up and down. So I'm glad that this venture is taking place.

'' In addition to Stones' Walkway, a total of EC$88,942 has been allocated for 200 feet of road and 300 feet of slipper drain in Café-Beau Hill.

Another EC$130,836 has been set aside for 400 feet of road and slipper drain in Mt. Toute.
