ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 2011 – The Ministry of Health has completed refurbishment on two St. Patrick medical stations and has reopened them to the public.

Extensive renovation, spearheaded by the Ministries of Health and Works, was carried out on the Union and Hermitage Medical Stations during almost two months of closure. The overall project cost was EC $75,000.

The restoration included installation of new roofs; upgrading of toilet facilities; improvement to the doctors’ quarters and dressing rooms; and enhancement of the pharmacy and clients’ waiting areas.

Both projects were completed in a timely manner, said Chief Community Health Nurse, Lydia Francis. Improvement to the physical structure of the facilities, she said, is integral to the delivery of community health services.

Francis added that the Health Ministry is cognizant that its physical and human resources must be of an acceptably high standard and quality, as part of its strategy to re-implement primary health care.
