STATUS UPDATE ON REHABILITATION OF ST GEORGE’S MARKET
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Public Utilities, Transport, and Implementation is pleased to update the general public that the construction of Building 3 of the St George’s market is progressing well. The key deliverables so far are the upgrading of the drainage system and the completion of the foundation of Building 3.
The contractor is Mr. Ryan Murell and the project is planned for 4 months. The project commenced in November 2020 and the expected completion date is March 2021. The fabrication of the steel structure is ongoing and is being implemented by Bobby’s Iron Works. The steel is being welded on-site based on the specifications of the drawings provided by the Technical Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development.
The roofing material is on island and covering of the roof is expected to commence in March 2021. The final phase of the project will be the construction of the vending tables and installation of electrical fittings and lighting. The ministry is working along with GTA to incorporate the installation of the fountain in the area of Building 3.
