His philosophy on Youth Development is that it should be holistic, preventative, and positive, focusing on the development of assets, sense of belonging, empowerment, and competencies in all young people.
His keen interest and commitment to Youth Development have motivated him to complete a BSc. in Youth Development Work at the University of the West Indies which he believes will enhance my ability to better serve the Youth of Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.
Norman Gilbert, Permanent Secretary of Youth Development (Actg.) and his journey in youth development started many years ago. Through the years, he has been involved in youth development at many levels including, President National Youth Council of Grenada, National Youth Ambassador, Chairman Commonwealth Regional Youth Caucus Caribbean Region, a Scout Leader, President of the National 4H Leaders Council, and a Caribbean representative on the PAN-Commonwealth Youth Council, among others.
