MISSION

To contribute to the improvement in the quality of life for citizens by making available land resources, housing and facilitating mechanisms for sustainable community development. 

VISION

To become the most accessible service-oriented organization, for improving the quality of life for Grenadians through efficient and effective utilization of available resources for the advancement of Human Settlement. 

STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION

The Ministry is composed of the following Divisions: 

ADMINISTRATION

The key functions of the Administration Division are:

  • To provide leadership, planning, management, financial, registry and personnel support to the Ministry;
  • To liaise with key stakeholders.

HOUSING

The role of the Division of Housing is to address housing needs of low, middle income and vulnerable persons through the provision of housing solutions.

LANDS

The role of the Division of Lands is to effectively manage Government’s land portfolio.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The role of the Community Development Division is to mobilize and organize Communities to work towards achieving improved basic social amenities, infrastructure, skills and livelihood.

SERVICES PROVIDED

Housing

  • Grenada Home Improvement Scheme
    1. Home Repair Programme
    2. Soft Loan Programme
    3. Emergency House Response Programme
    4. Turnkey Operations
  • Revenue collection from loans

Lands

  • Execution of surveys and preparation of Survey Plans and Reports for all Crown Lands;
  • Ensure that all surveys carried out in the State adhere to Legal Requirements;
  • Reduce incidences of squatting on Crown Lands and the regularization of informal occupants;
  • Reduce instances of Boundary Disputes;
  • Collection of revenues resulting from Land Sales and Leases;
  • Maintenance of Account records and land register;
  • Allotment of Crown Lands;
  • Processing of Leases and Indentures;
  • Sale of Maps;

Community Development

  • Implementation of Human Resources Development Training/Capacity Building Programmes, which can lead to skills development and enhanced livelihood;
  • Assisting Communities in identifying and implementing projects that address Basic Social Amenities and Infrastructure within the community for the improvement of their environment;
  • Facilitate rehabilitation/upgrading of Community/Resource Centres in collaboration with the Ministry of Works;
  • Establishing and maintaining linkages and working collaboratively with relevant existing projects, other Governmental and non-Governmental Agencies.
